When I do art, I play with acid. Admittedly, I use a relatively safe acid called ferrichloride, and about the only bodily effect it has is a slight itch, but it engraves copper plates quite well. Throw some spray paint, grounds, and solvents in the mix and Intaglio techniques can produce unique effects.
I don’t have a formal art degree because I’m eighteen and, well, I just graduated from high school last month. Art has always been one of my passions, and I took as many art classes as possible through school and CCAD Saturday Morning Art Classes. I’ve dabbled in other mediums, but I really found my niche in Intaglio printmaking. I learned everything I know about printmaking from CCAD’s Kathy McGhee. I’m continuing to explore printmaking through Phoenix Rising, a printmaking co-op in German Village. In the fall, I will attend Hampshire College, in Massachusetts, where I will have the opportunity to further my art education.
I’ve been in academic and community art shows, but this my first gallery appearance. You can see my art during Mac Worthington’s July show. I will be at the Gallery Hop on July 5th and at the Artist Reception on July 19th. I look forward to playing with more acid, designing more plates, and seeing where my art takes me.

It was my senior year of college that shaped me as a photographer. My stepmother passed away, and it changed me and my work. Instead of seeing clearly, my world was shaken up. My art became out of focus and emotionally charged, Intense and surreal. I found myself in my work.
For me, photography is not about capturing a moment, preserving it in time. It is instead, about conveying emotion and creating beauty out of the mundane.
I owe so much to Lou, who showed me the world in front of my lens, and to my family and friends who have given me a tremendous amount of support.
My work will be on display during the month of July.
